Construction and Environmental Impact
The Cave at Dunlap Hollow was custom-designed and built by owners Bryant & Amy Gingerich, with interior design work from Renee Byler of Burrow Creative. The build was designed with environmental considerations in mind:
- The construction used a quarter of the lumber a similar standard build would have, and no roofing materials were used.
- Few trees were cut down, and the only species displaced was the invasive cave cricket.
- The Cave is naturally cooled by the Earth in the summer and warmed with solar heating from south-facing windows and radiant heating lines embedded in the floor.
- It also features four dehumidifiers and a ventilation system to maintain a comfortable environment.
Booking and Cancellation Policy
The Cave at Dunlap Hollow offers a flexible booking and cancellation policy:
- Rates start at $780 per night.
- Check-in is at 3 pm, and check-out is at 11 am.
- Cancellation policy:
- 100% refund, including cleaning fee, if canceled within 48 hours of booking.
- 80% + cleaning fee refund if canceled at least six months before check-in.
- 50% + cleaning fee refund if canceled at least 14 days before check-in.
- A refund of just the cleaning fee if canceled less than 14 days prior to check-in.

Bookings for The Cave at Dunlap Hollow can be made through the Dunlap Hollow website. The property is fully booked for 2024, but reservations are open for 2025. Guests can join the mailing list to be notified of any cancellations.
